It’s official: Ace Cafe Orlando is a hit in the City Beautiful.
From its award-winning renovation of three historic downtown buildings to its distinctive brand of dining and entertainment, Ace Cafe Orlando “has brought an additional dimension to the many events and attractions we have downtown,” said Thomas C. Chatmon Jr., Executive Director of the Downtown Development Board and Community Redevelopment Agency.
Chatmon made his comments during the Development Board’s 29th Annual Golden Brick Awards luncheon, when Ace Cafe won an “Award of Excellence.”
The world’s most famous motor-diner, Ace Cafe celebrates cars, motorcycles and rock ‘n’ roll culture in its décor, retail stores, music and menu.
After an extensive nationwide search, the Ace chose three buildings on Livingston Street that once housed Harry P. Leu’s supply company for its first North American site. The Ace’s leadership took great care refurbishing the 100-year-old buildings, preserving their authenticity and repurposing their original materials. For example, tables inside the Ace are made from the wood and heavy timbers reclaimed from the barn on the property.
Ace Cafe’s original London location opened in 1938 as a cafe for truckers, then evolved into a popular destination for rock ‘n’ roll-loving teens riding motorbikes during the '50s and '60s. Today, the Ace has a multigenerational appeal to motorsports enthusiasts all over the world, with locations in London, Lahti, Finland, Beijing, Lucerne, Switzerland and Barcelona.
Ace Cafe Orlando debuted on May 19, 2017.
The three-acre dining, entertainment and retail complex features a full-service restaurant, two kitchens, four bars, a coffee bar and a communal counter. Entertainment includes live music; retail stores such as a Dainese D-Store, offering Italy’s most famous high-tech riding gear and accessories; Stonebridge Motorgallery, selling original motorsports and rock ‘n’ roll artwork; and private and semi-private spaces for groups large and small.
As a family-friendly member of the downtown community, Ace Cafe Orlando features a busy calendar that includes live concerts, monthly meets, weekend festivals, road tours and private group events.
Ace Cafe Orlando’s dinner menu features American diner fare such as burgers, chili and sandwiches -- plus that British fave Fish ‘n’ Chips, of course! The menu also includes gluten-free options, sharable appetizers, salads and kids’ favorites such as hot dogs and fish nuggets. This month, Orlando magazine Reader’s voted Ace #1 for Best Happy Hour and gave top honors for Best New Restaurant and Best Beer Selection.
Brunch lovers can choose anything from Crème Brûlée French Toast to Morning Meatloaf, Eggs Benedict, Chicken Waffles and Biscuits and Gravy.
Adult beverages run the gamut from sixty types of beer including a wide variety of craft, domestic and imported brews, house-made specialty craft cocktails and fresh juices to Super Martinis, wines, cold-pressed and hot, spiked coffee drinks.
On Saturday, May 19, the Ace is throwing a huge all-day “Ace-iversary” party to celebrate its first year of success, and hosting a food drive to demonstrate its ongoing commitment to Central Florida. The Ace kicks off its anniversary celebration day in a most fitting way -- with a bike and car show from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Live music, DJs, food and drink specials, beer and spirits sampling, demos from Vanderhall, and giveaways throughout the day will be on tap. All patrons are invited to donate canned food or non-perishable items to Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, and in exchange, receive a $10 Ace gift card redeemable for a future visit.
